The History of Clippie Lodge

The original granite building was part of the village bus station. It was used by the Station Manager as an office, the bus drivers and clippies were accommodated overnight when they brought the last bus into Ballater.  The bus station closed down several decades ago and was split into two lots, one lot on Golf Road became the Co operative shop which is still there today. The buses still stop outside the Co op today where they would stopped since buses first came into the village many many decades ago.

The other lot became Clippie Lodge, accessed from Viewfield Road. The building lay empty for decades before the restoration work began in 2020. The original building was taken back to the bare granite with only the walls and roof remaining. A large open plan extension was added to make it the luxurious comfortable house it is now.

The house was completed in May 2021.
